One of the most special parts of our Mardi Gras Raffle is seeing the joy it brings long after the night is over. Last year, our Dream Vacation raffle winner was a St. Mary’s family, and their experience is a perfect reminder that learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Dashiell’s Dream Vacation

At St. Mary’s they say a student is a lifelong learner. My son is in 4th grade and has been at St. Mary’s since kindergarten. Every Mardi Gras season, we buy raffle tickets and he is excited at the prospect of what we might win. Last year, while doing his very best to win everything at the Mardi Gras Carnival, my son heard his Dad’s name called out – we actually won the grand prize!
As soon as we found out that we had won the dream vacation, we knew exactly where we wanted to go. Five years ago we had our best family trip to French Polynesia and have dreamed about going back ever since.
We recently took our dream vacation to French Polynesia where my son kayaked, snorkeled, swam with sharks and sting rays, toured a pearl museum and a pineapple juice factory. We drove to the highest point on the island of Moorea (the inspiration for the movie Moana), browsed local markets and learned about a different culture. It truly was a dream vacation! My son learned so much, and St. Mary’s was always with him. He brought books to read and his recorder to practice!
I see firsthand that a student at St. Mary’s really is a lifelong learner, both in and out of the classroom.
