Illustration of the Cat in the Hat with a stack of books to celebrate Read Across America

Read Across America March 1-3, 2023

On March 1st-3rd, St. Mary’s will join other schools around the country for Read Across America, which kicks off a month-long focus on reading in our community.

Each day comes with a special spirit day:

Wednesday, March 1st: Crazy Hat Day

Thursday, March 2nd: Crazy Sock Day, with a special afternoon appearance by the Cat in the Hat! Lunch will also feature delicious green eggs and ham!

Friday, March 3rd: Flashlight and Slippers Day. During their silent reading period, students will get to read with their flashlight and slippers in class.

Each class will have a special reading challenge during the month of March. There will also be a school-wide competition versus Mr. Soria. Any student who reads more words than our principal between March 1st and March 24th (the start of spring break), will win a gift card and a free In-N-Out lunch.

Happy reading!
